According to his granddaughter:
- “My great-great grandfather Robert L. Henson [brother of] William (Billy) … moved from Clay County Kentucky to Alabama where my great-grandfather was born (also a William); then they all migrated over to Washington County Arkansas, probably because his extended family were there too. … [This] My grandfather (another Robert L.!) was born in Maysville Arkansas near the Oklahoma border. My mother said he had very auburn hair and once she met some of his cousins and they were red headed. He died  before I was born. … [Robert] died about 1948 in Texas. They lived in Olton Texas when he died; had been farmers before they moved into town. Then my grandmother moved back to Missouri in 1950 to Independence Missouri where she bought a large house and earned all her social security after the age of 65, renting rooms, making quilts, etc. She lived to 95. My mother lived to 94.”
- “[Millie’s] father was Robert in that picture. He thought of himself as a cowboy and rancher, although he ran a store and was a butcher as well. Also worked on the railroad. They did so many jobs to survive, our ancestors!” - see family picture taken with his parents c1892.
- “in the haying picture….there are some hensons and some Sheppards (the Sheppards were my grandmother’s family and the two families lived close together in west Texas and Oklahoma and two Sheppard sisters married two Henson brothers.) This picture is believed to have been taken on the Wagonner Ranch in Texas near Vernon Texas. The Waggoners were big landowners and there is information on them on the internet.  The ones I know for sure in this picture ... are on the first row, the youngest is Herman Henson. My grandfather is on the first row looking off to his right with the cigarette dangling. On the top row the shortest guy is William Henson. I am not sure if Ed Henson is in this picture. He was the oldest of those four boys. I really like this picture. It feels really old west!” - taken about 1896 [typo in file name says 1876]

- “My grandfather [Robert] was quiet and married to a talker.”

From family sources:
- Herman was married to Rilda. I think he was the youngest of the four boys and my grandfather Robert’s brother. ... Herman was a “devilish” sort of boy/man so I am told. Liked to tease and play pranks.

SURILDA HENSON
Surilda Henson, 93, died June 17 in Willow Springs, Mo. Funeral services were Saturday in the Steed-Todd Chapel with Paul Crooks and Fred Church officiating. Burial was in the Texico Cemetery under the direction of Steed-Todd Funeral Home.
Her early childhood and teenage-years were spent as her "Mother's helper." Due to these responsibilities the opportunity for formal education was very limited, which was a great sorrow to her. In her desire for learning she sought knowledge by study of the Holy scriptures.
In 1908, she moved with her family, from Kentucky to western Oklahoma. There she met Herman H. Henson, and married him March 13, 1910. Four children were born – Dorothy Hubbell, Milton, Roberta McGuire, and Herman.
Soon after marriage and as a young mother, she became acquainted with the restored gospel. Due to her previous knowledge of the scriptures, she readily accepted it and was Baptized in August 1913 into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Because of her faithfulness and devotion, many of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are members of her church.
Due to her failing health, she was advised she must move to a dry climate. In May 1919, with three small children, they moved to New Mexico, and settled near Elida, where all of her children received their high school education. In May of 1934 they settled on a farm east of Farwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband in October 1957; one daughter, Dorothy in May 1964; and one son, Milton in April 1984.
She is survived by one daughter, Roberta of Mountain View, Mo.; one son, Herman of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Sarah Phelps and Beulah Edwards of Somerset, Ky.; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Jim and Jerry Henson, Mitch and Craig Walls, Jim Moore, and Michael McGuire.
