- "Richard William went to London to seek work. He lodged with the Emans family and later married Dorothea one of the daughters of the house. He had two nicknames. The first, 'Dick' was used by his own family; the second, 'Trelly' by the Emans family, to avoid confusion with their brother of the same name. Richard worked 29 years for the same company, H Days & Sons of the High St, West Norwood. Childhood Rheumatic fever had damaged his heart, which prevented him joining the armed forces during WWII but he was in the Home Guard. The family continued to move. Near the end of the War Richard bought a house[on a mortgage] in South Norwood, which borders with Croydon, Surrey. After he died Dorothea bought a house in Croydon." Source Keith Treleven.
