Asa Napier died Sunday night at 7 o’clock at his home near Hazel Valley after two weeks illness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Hazel Valley church with Rev. Norman Drake officiating.
Mr Napier was born at Tarrent KY, May 12 1871. His father was McCuger? C Napier. He moved to this county from Kentucky in 1889 and has been a farmer for a number of years in this vicinity.

Wool? of Wielila? Kans., Mrs. Ukla Herr of Osage Okla, Mrs Ossie Hryan? of Fuley? Mo; Mrs Nora Evans and Miss Nancy Napier at Hazel Valley.”
NOTE: Perhaps his wife’s name [Mary Ruby?] got mixed up with one of his daughters [Ruby Mary?], not listed in this obit? His son Ewell’s obit in 1965 says his mother’s name was Mary Jane and 6 sisters are listed by their husbands’ names. Asa’s wife outlived him but remarriage is also a possibility.

RESEARCH NOTES:
- Lots of variations on her name Others say she was “Sarah Mellissa” but known as “Lissie”. Why would her first name be Sarah as a younger sister was named Sarah F (as per 1900). However, others say this later Sarah was really named Frances Maud. A real mixup! Or was Lissie’s real name Selicia as per 1900 census?
- Did she really have her first child when she was only 10??? Serious doubts.
Sarah Mellissa “Lissie” married Cornelius L Tuke BLEVINS. Born on 27 Aug 1890 in Health, Arkansas, USA. Cornelius L Tuke died in Feb 1980; he was 89.

- Lived in Sunset area of AR, Van Buren, AR, Oak Grove, AR, Kibler, AR, Ft. Smith, AR and Sallisaw, OK.

- 1950 Find A Grave Memorial# 47798172 for James Garfield Hampton
Birth: Feb. 28, 1881
Death: May 5, 1950
Garfield was raised an Orphan (his birth name was Bird) He lost his first wife and baby, then he met Cynthia. He was 25 years old and Cynthia was 14 years old when they married. They lived in Shawnee, Ok. Later they moved back to Arkansas and settled far above the Millers Chapel. They lived there until Aunt Elsie was born. They bought 40 acres of land from Grama and built near Grandpa and Grandma Henson. Dad was a farmer all of his life. We grew about all our food, the only thing we bought from the store was staples like sugar, salt, flour, and coffee. We had our milk, butter and eggs from the farm. Dad butchered hogs in the l ate fall for our meat. It was cured and we had meat through the winter. There was a large family so it took us all working together. Not that we enjoyed it as kids, we would rather play. Dad and Mother was faithful to take us to church a nd Sunday school. We either walked or Dad hitched the mules to the wagon. Mother would gather us children around and read the Bible and we were all called aro und the alter of prayer at bed time. I can still see Mother in my memory kneelin by the kitchen chair with tears streaming down her face, praying for her family, that we would be an unbroken family circle around God's Throne. I believe God is going to answer that prayer. I could go on and on with memories but will say so long for now. (As told by Elsie Lee (Hampton) Easter, April 1989. Elsie was one of the daughters of James Garfield, and Cynthia Catherine Henson Hampton, and the grandmother of my wife Sheila Schneider)
