From original family sources:
- CHILDREN: (not necessarily in birth order) Henry Angus*, Charlie, Jesse, John, Ephriam, Matilda (Mattie), Melissa (Lissie), Pearl, Belle, Fairy, Elsie, and ? (male). Also listed married names of females, but not which surname belongs to which daughter. Elsie was the youngest (girl or child?). Mae remembers Charlie as the oldest son, and 2 Henson uncles dying suddenly of heart failure when she was a child or young.
- RESIDENCE: pioneer resident of Shawnee, 821 North McKinley Street
- WORK: farmer, public works water department.
- RELIGION: Baptist

RESEARCH NOTES:
- birthdate on typed copy of affidavit by HA Henson says his father’s birthday was 20 Oct 1825 - the year was crossed out and replaced with 1854. It is possible that this is wrong, and that the typed version simply reversed the last 2 digits of the year - 1825 instead of 1852. It was his father Jesse that was born in 1825. Various sources show birth year 1852, 1853, 1854.
- don’t yet know which daughter Mrs. J R Corbin was (maybe Mattie who married a Collins???...)
- Shawnee, OK was first opened to white settlement in the land run of 1890. Shawnee is the county seat for Pottawatomie County, OK, and is just east of Oklahoma City, and north of Dallas Texas
- 1910 marriage of son Henry A and Bessie was witnessed by Mrs. Mattie B. Wright and Ross C. Wright - could be Henry’s sister if was first married a Wright before she remarried before 1938 (obit for her father doesn’t list a Mrs. Wright).

RESEARCH NOTES:
- born in 1853 or 1854 according to early census

- 1900 US census, sons Joseph and Thomas were living with her sister Rebecca and John Orrick in Winfrey. Perhaps another son James F(rank) was living with her sister Mary Miller. Where was Lavinia?

- 1935 - not listed in brother John’s obituary (he died Oct 1935), so perhaps she pre-deceased him? Yes, gravestone for Vina Provence says she die 13 Mar 1935

From other researchers:
- From the Provence Family Tree by mbprovence on ancestry, Lavina Henson was married 3? times (sourced from other trees). In 1871 he also married a Ratliff (no further details). In 1886 Washington AR she married James Hiram Provence (1819-1892) and had 2 sons: Joseph Benjamin (1889-1963) and Thomas Sylvester (1891-1944) - if he was born in 1819 he would have been in his 70s for their birth. In 1889 she married a husband Frank Province who died 1900 AR. There are errors here - also says she died 13 Mar 1935 in West Plains Howell MO.
- Her brother Samuel Henson married a Mary Texanna Ratliff.
- Lavina Henson married (second) James Hiram Provence who was 68 years old and she was 33, and they had 3 children Joe, Frank and Thomas.
- 1935: Sisters Reba and Ava Jean Provence were with their grandmother Lavina “Viney” Provence (nee Henson) when she died. Their brother Ora Lee said he knew his grandmother "Viney" very well as she lived with them and was with them when she died.

This supports an early marriage, although I can’t find a marriage record:

Posted photo and bio by Stephen Schneider:
David Bonham Harman Sr.
This is My wife Sheila's great great great grandfather.

The Following Genealogy on David Bonham Harlan was recorded by Harlan Descendent Flossie (Morgan) Owens.

David Bonham Harlan was born 14 Oct 1838* in Bond County Illinois. He was a son of Abner and Lydia (Moore) Harlan. Abner was a descendant of George Harlan who was born in Durham England and came to America in 1687, landing in what is now Chester County, Pa. The Harland family dropped the "d" from their name upon arriving in America. Lydia's parents were Lydia and David Moore if Madison county IL.

Migrating to Wayne County Illinois David married in 1859 to Elizabeth C. Dorris who was born in 1829 and a daughter of Mames and Lydia (Campbell) Dorris all of Wayne County. All became members of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Banhill, Illinois. James and Lydia Dorris died in 1858 and 1863 respectively.
David and Elizabeth Harlans's children were: (1) James Abner B. 1860, (2) Henrietta E. B. 1862. She married James David Easter and reared four children at Winslow, Ark.; David Monroe, Levi Allen, Mahala and Beulah Easter. Their Descendants are still around Winslow today. (3) Martha Jane Harlan born 1865. She married James S. Morgan in 1886 and they reared nine children, one of which was Josiah Rufus Morgan born 1888 in Winslow (father of submitter Flossie Morgan Owens) (4) Benjamin Seamore, born 1868. He died 1942 Kiowa Co. Oklahoma. (5) David Bonham Harlan Jr. born 1871 and died 1872. (6) Philip Harlan born 1873 (7) Rosey Harlan born 1876. She married Bennie Lee Fish. She died 1953 in Okla.

David and Elizabeth Harlan moved in 1872 to Howell Co. Mo.Elizabeth lost her life in their sawmill when logs rolled onto her in 1878. She is buried in Dripping Springs cemetery there. He married 2nd Susan E. Simpson in 1879.
David was granted 160 acres of land in Howell county in 1880 and he sold this land to his brother phillip in 1881, David and Susan had two children: (1) Lillie Harlan born 1879 (2) Stella Harlan born 1882. David adn Susan divorced in 1882. He then married Amanda Brannock, but it is not known what happened to her. After selling the land in Missouri David went to Washington County Arkansas where he also had a sawmill and a "Still" and family reports he had a contract to sell liquor to the Government.

He married his fourth wife Rachel Henson in 1888 in Washington County. She was born in 1859 same county. They had the following children: (1) Jacob harlan born 1889. (2) Phoebe J. Harlan born 1890, died 1891. (3) Elijah Harlan born 1892, died 1900. (4) Monroe Harlan, born 1895. He married Verna Alice Windel adn reared children in Shawnee, Okla.
David and Rachel Harlan had a sawmill in the boston Mountains, which some family members today say there is still evidence of it there and a place called Harlan's crossing. Around 1899 they migrated to Shawnee, Oklahoma where they chose to live the remainder of their life. David could not read nor write, but he was known to sing songs all day long and not sing the same song twice. He died 1923 and his wife Rachel in 1935, and both are buried in the Old Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

NOTE: Photo of gravestone shows only last name: Harlan.
* NOTE: Memorial said he was born 1848 - an obvious typo if he married in 1859.
They had the following children:

Phoebe J HARLAN (Died as Infant) (1890-1891)
579iii.

From other researchers:
- Ora Lee Provence knew his great aunt Becky Orrick well and used to walk to her house and spend nights and then walk to school the next day. He was only 9 years old he said.
- 1935 RESIDENCE: Winslow, Arkansas
- Aunt Becky died with heart problems.
- Photo of 4 Henson sisters: As to when the photo was taken and where I don't know but Vina died in 1935 and Rebecca in 1940. I would guess it was in Crawford County as that is where both Rebecca and Vina lived at the time. At one time they lived together.  My uncle Ora told me that after uncle Wes Orrick died, my Granpa and family moved down to Aunt Becky's place to be with her. Later they moved back to their place on top of mountain. uncle Ora said the kids still at home would take turns staying with her and he was young about 10 and he would have to get up and walk home up mountain and  then on to school. (THIS WOULD BE 3 or 4 Miles at least)
- Wes and Becky Orrick had no children. but...

My grandfather Tom provence was raised by Vina's sister and husband Rebecca and John Wesley Orrick. Orrick and Joe Provence bro to Tom was as well. Their brother Frank who was oldest was raised by Mary Henson Miller and husband Frank.

** Sister of head of household would make Vina’s maiden name Orrick. But almost certainly she was his sister-in-law (sister of his wife Rebeca whose maiden name was Henson). In 1930, Vina is listed living with her “sister” Rebecca (Henson) Orrick, making them both Hensons by birth. There are earlier census for Lavina Henson born abt 1854 to confirm this.

County Boundary Changes: Certain lands declared to be in Washington 26 October 1831, line with Crawford defined 24 November 1846 and changed 8 March 1833.
County Records: In 1906, Ben F. Greer reported, "County court records are complete from Aug. 3, 1835; probate records from Oct. 9, 1837; marriage records from 1845, except the record of the period between 1861 and 1864. Probate and will records, A and B, were stolen. During the War, Presley R. Smith, clerk, hid the county records in a dry case in the mountains south of Fayetteville to prevent their falling into the hands of the Federals. Only one record was thus lost. The records are in good condition and are kept in fire-proof vaults." - http://www.arkansasresearch.com/COS/Wash/WashingtonCounty.htm

Birth: Aug. 11, 1872 Arkansas, USA
Death: Feb. 27, 1957 Arkansas, USA
Joe was the youngest of 14 children. The father owned land in southern Washington County, Arkansas near Winslow and Sunset. It is likely that Joe was born near there. He married Nettie Parks on 14 July 1897 in Crawford County, Arkansas. The 1910 and 1920 US Census for Fayetteville, Washington County, Arkansas, show that Joe was a billing clerk at the railroad depot in Fayetteville. In 1930 and 1940, he had transferred to the depot in Van Buren, Arkansas as a ticket agent.
Joe and Nettie were the parents of three known children, Glenn G, Thelma Nelina and Carl G Henson
