From other researchers:
- I noticed that [daughter] Goldie was a year older than her mother's marriage to Harvey [Vaught]. I figured that she had to be the daughter of Burl Cartwright. In one census report, Wm Harvey Vaught noted her as a step-daughter. So I ran out Goldie and Earl Vaught [see 1920 census etc]. Traced out Delbert Vaught and found his marriage record in Virginia. It shows that his mother's maiden name was Cartwright. I have posted this to Delbert's page.
Delbert was buried in Chicot Co Arkansas as is his wife and father.
On 21 Sep 1901 when Sarah Melissa* was 18, she first married Burl CARTWRIGHT in Crawford County, Arkansas, USA. Born on 23 Feb 1878 in USA.

From other researchers:
- The last name was misspelled in 1880 US Census for Shepherd, Crawford County. Burl appears in Washington Co later with his wife Ellen and mother Myra. She was noted as a mother-in-law in error. They were in Vineyard Township of Washington County. Myra has a grave noted in FAG at the Academy Cemetery. This is at Evansville of which I am familiar. Sits on the state line.

- It appears that Burl's first marriage [to Melissa Miller] did end in divorce. If he is the same person that was married in Search Co, Arkansas, he left his ex-wife and moved there. He then married Ellen Hincky who likely had a daughter, Audie. For she was born in 1895, some years before they married. What a mess.

- Burl's father died prior to 1900 and I suspect in Shepherd Township of Crawford.

- If this is not confusing enough, Joseph Cartwright/Cartright was living in Crawford and had a daughter named Ellen. Joseph could be a brother or son to Burl's father. Not sure because I am not going there.
One census in Oklahoma shows that Burl was Native American, Cherokee.
Now, suppose Ellen Cartwright married a Hincky. If so, then Burl married a possible first cousin. So I will let you look at this one and see what you think.

- Crawford or Washington County would have the divorce papers. However, I can no longer access those in Washington because they have been taken off line. The only way is to go to the archives in person.
Crawford Co Clerk might look up the papers if filed there. The date would be around 1902, plus or minus a year.

- Burl and Ellen moved to Rogers Co, OK. If this is the same person, he died in 1941. Ellen came back to Arkansas, I think.
Does not appear that anyone at Ancestry has any information on Burl. So this is all new findings.

- There was a Sarah Cartwright who married a Pense. Not sure if this was Burl's sister Susan or someone else.
They had one child:
